Passion Project

Passion project is a book about a girl named Bennet Taylor who has battled with anxiety her whole life, and is now battling with depression after going through a traumatic time. She meets Henry Adams and he offers to take her on different adventures to help her find her passion in life. This book has many rollercoasters of emotions. They’re times where I felt giddy, sad, angry, frustrated. Literally all of the above. It does give a rom commy feel but with a serious aspect. I gave this book a 3.5 stars simply because of specific tropes I did not love (miss communication trope). If you want a quick fun read I would recommend this to you. If you go for more serious books I would not recommend this.

SPOILER**

This book started out very strong for me, I was rooting for both characters. As the book kept going I found myself only rooting for the male main character henry. He is an absolute sweetheart that deserved the best out of life. Bennet has anxiety & depression in this book so some of her actions make total sense. She makes decisions solely based on her feelings instead of logic. So of course she messes up quite a few times in the book which just made the book frustrating to read. The part where she finds out everyone lied to her was when my rating for this book started to lower. She was so mad but it felt like one page later they resolved the conflict and were better. Same thing when she didn’t tell andy that her and henry were dating. Like at that point he should not have even been at the wedding. It seemed like everyone around her was knocking sense into her, but she just ignored it until the end. I definitely think the girl needs therapy, at the end of the book she does get herself some therapy, but I wish we could’ve seen the healing in real time. Even though these do fall in love, I do not think it was in a healthy way. Besides all of the negative this book was fun to read in the first half when they were getting to know each other and the yearning was building. after the first conflict they made up too quickly and instantly got together?? it just kind of fell flat for me. I do think many people would love this book tho.
